Keeping your eye exam appointments are an important part of maintaining ocular health. You will need to bring several things with you when you head to the office for an exam, including:
- Insurance Card. Always bring your insurance card with you to your eye appointment. If you have vision coverage, the staff at your eye doctor's office will help you file your insurance claim. Don't forget to bring money for any co-pays, coinsurance, or other fees you may be responsible for.
- Eyeglasses or Contacts. If you already wear glasses or contacts, be sure to bring them with you. Your eye doctor may want to check whether they are the best prescription for you or ensure that you know how to properly insert the contact lenses. If you have prescription sunglasses, bring those to your appointment as well.
- Questions. Write down a list of questions to ask your eye care professional during your eye appointment. You won't want to forget to mention any concerns you have, so a list can be very helpful. Let your doctor know that you have a list of questions at the beginning of the visit, so he or she will have time to answer them.
- Someone to Drive You Home. If you are having your eyes dilated or undergoing any other tests that may affect your vision, you must bring someone with you to drive you home. Your eyes may be too sensitive to drive, or you may have blurry vision that could make driving dangerous. Bring a friend or family member with you to ensure that you make it home safely.
